Located on the Missouri River, right outside Kansas City, this distillery is quickly gaining a reputation for its Strong Vodka, Pillar 136 Gin, and for still-aging whiskey and bourbon. Literally in a cave, or as the Distiller says “man’s original dwelling”, it features small-batches that are bottled by hand. Originally established in 1887 by Jacob Rieger, this iconic Kansas City distillery once had national distribution of over 100 signature products—until Prohibition swept the nation, forcing it to close. Fast forward 93 years, and Ryan Maybee and Andy Rieger meet and birth a brain child: the revival of the famed distillery. Now located in East Bottoms, they produce Kansas City Whiskey, Midwestern Dry Gin, and Midwestern Vodka.
